SwissIT was born from a simple but powerful idea at Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI): if information shapes the world, then education in information must sit at the very heart of the institution. From the very beginning, information has been a core pillar of SIMI, not only in name, but in philosophy, programme design, and academic governance.
Located in Zug, Switzerland, one of Europe’s most advanced hubs for information technology, data-driven industries, and digital innovation, SIMI naturally placed strong emphasis on the field that defines the region’s growth. Zug’s ecosystem—often recognised for its concentration of technology companies, digital finance, and information-based enterprises—made Information the most dynamic and forward-looking domain of development.
Within this context, SwissIT emerged as the IT Division of SIMI, dedicated to translating SIMI’s information-centric DNA into specialised programmes in IT, AI, and Data Sciences. SwissIT does not stand alone; it operates as an integral academic division, governed and quality-assured by SIMI, and aligned with its long-term educational strategy.
At the same time, SwissIT inherits the international outlook of SwissUK™, SIMI’s integrated education model that connects Swiss private higher education with UK Government-recognised frameworks. Through SwissUK™, SwissIT programmes are designed to meet international expectations, professional standards, and real-world workplace demands.
Together, these three elements define SwissIT’s identity: the global orientation of SwissUK™, the academic authority of SIMI as its IT Division, and a deep commitment to Information as the core pillar—a reflection of both SIMI’s founding philosophy and Zug’s position as Switzerland’s leading information-driven region.
